What it’s all about

Itineration is an adventure. If you’re not familiar with it, let me summarize for you: phone calls, meetings, phone calls, mailings, driving, services, newsletters, phone calls, driving, phone calls.  When I first started in May and June, I had no idea how to begin, and I’m still working out the kinks and figuring out the “best” way to do things.  I felt distraught and weary.  I studied missions at Evangel, and they didn’t teach us about this!  I didn’t sign up for this kind of thing when I wanted to become a missionary!

Itineration is different work than what I’ll be doing in Thailand, that is true.  But really, in the most important way, it is the same.  I tell people all the time that in Thailand, I’ll be building relationships and making friends, to show them who Jesus is.  It’s all about the people!  And in itineration… It’s all about the people!  I am not just trying to raise the budget so I can skidaddle over to Thailand as soon as possible.  I want to be in Thailand, I want to get going on what God has called me to do there, but as I itinerate I am doing so much more than just fundraising.  I am raising support.  Financial support, yes.  And that’s what the people at headquarters look at – where am I with my budget?  But I am also raising PRAYER support.  I am building relationships and making friends.  I am meeting new people, hearing about what God is doing in churches and in people’s lives all over Southern California.  It’s all about the people!

So, People, it’s about you!  I want to get to know you.  I want to pray for you as you pray for me.  I want to meet you and spend time and see what God is doing in your lives and in your churches. Because it’s not just about the people in Thailand. It’s not just about money, or fundraising, or the bottom line of my budget. It’s not about how many services I have scheduled per month, or how many packets of information I’ve mailed out in the last week.  It’s not about filling out paperwork or filling up my gas tank or recording that I drove 233 miles in one day for a meeting.

It’s all about the people!

If I haven’t met you yet, I want to – and not just to get you to sign a commitment form and mail it in.  I want to meet you to know you, to find out who you are and what you’re all about and what God is doing and wants to do in your life.

Because it really is all about the people.
