Psalm 125:1-2
1 Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion,
which cannot be moved, but abides forever.
2 As the mountains surround Jerusalem,
so the LORD surrounds His people,
from this time forth and forevermore.
My city is situated in a basin: miles of rice fields and corn fields and villages stretch to the feet of mountains on every side (large hills, I should say, if you have in mind mountains like the Sierra Nevadas or San Gabriels). Still, on a clear day I can see the rising landscape in every direction. Often these verses reverberate in my mind. Those mountains aren’t going anywhere—how much more is the LORD faithful to us! He surrounds His people now and forever. He is faithful and trustworthy.
Prayer:
Psalm 125:1-2
1 Those who trust in the LORD are like Mount Zion,
which cannot be moved, but abides forever.
2 As the mountains surround Jerusalem,
so the LORD surrounds His people,
from this time forth and forevermore.
LORD, You surround Your people like strong mountains surrounding a city. Your protection is powerful, sure, and steadfast. Thank You that as we trust You, You make us like Mount Zion—also steadfast, firm, immovable, unshaken by anything that happens to us and around us. We pray that Buddhist people will see Your faithfulness and utter dependability. Draw people in the Buddhist world to see that trusting You is more sure than any system of belief they have learned before. Rescue them from depending on the teaching of the Buddha, on worship of spirits and ancestors, and on themselves. Set them free to trust in You and to dwell in Your protection. In the mighty Name of Jesus we pray, Amen.
