Isaiah 26:13-14

13 O LORD our God,

   other lords besides You have ruled over us,

   but Your Name alone we bring to remembrance.

14 They are dead, they will not live;

   they are shades, they will not arise;

to that end You have visited them with destruction

   and wiped out all remembrance of them.

In America we talk about “idols” like money, fame, material things, success… in the Buddhist world these are also idols, and there are also actual images of wood, stone, and metal that people believe and worship. These idols are dead, shades and shadows that people try to manipulate and appease in order to get what they want. At the same time, there is evil spiritual power at work through this system of worship. BUT! Our LORD God is greater! The Name of our LORD is the Only Name with true power and authority. So we pray: God, bring Your Kingdom rule to the Buddhist world. Draw people to come under Your lordship and turn away from other lords and idols that they have served. Lord God Almighty, visit the idols of the Buddhist world with destruction and wipe out all remembrance of them, as people turn to You, the True and Living God! Amen.

Prayer:

Acts 2:37-39

37 Now when they heard this they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” 38 And Peter said to them, “Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to Himself.” 

Lord God, today we ask that You will send forth Your word in the Buddhist world, and that people will be cut to the heart when they hear it. Please send believers to explain Your word and to answer people’s questions. O God, draw Buddhists to repentance and to be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ as they receive Your offer of forgiveness. Please fill them with Your Holy Spirit, because Your promise is for them too! Lord our God, call Buddhists to Yourself! Amen.
