Engrish #1
Many (many many) signs in Thailand have English translations, but sometimes the translator misses the mark a little. Some grammar just makes me laugh, some are outright nonsense, and some are ridiculously mistranslated so the sign means an entirely different thing.
The elevators in my building have English directions for which buttons to push. Nothing too far flung here, but enough for a chuckle or eyebrow raise.
#1 – “Press button for the floor you are going.”
#2 – “Press this button for door opening.”
#3 – “Press this button for door closing.”
#4 – [my personal favorite] “Passengers in front of cage door should at one go out when buzzer sounds for over load.” [Yes, better to be honest, sometimes an elevator does feel like a cage.]
#5 – “Press this emergency call button for the answer of keeper.”
