Blogging is something that consistently remains on my list of things to do.  However, when my list of things to do includes two written pages in my calendar, eight twenty-lined “stickies” on my desktop, and another multiple-paragraph “note” on my iPod, blogging somehow loses the URGENT label and I don’t get around to it. To my readers, I’m sorry.  But thanks for understanding. A lot […]

The Summer of All Summers

The Summer of All Summers

I have just completed my fourth summer as a missionary here in Chiang Mai.  Every summer we have had one team from Evangel University come to help teach at TLC English Center.  I have learned quite a bit about hosting teams over the last three years, and I am thankful for all the lessons God has taught me–they all came in handy this summer when […]

Quest at Ang Kaew

Quest at Ang Kaew

A draft that never got posted! Oh no! From April: At the end of March, we had a Quest event at a little reservoir on the university campus.  We’ve been doing Quest events since June 2010, and this is the first (of many!) that was completely organized by Thai people.  Part of my job here is to work myself out of a job – handing […]

“Chinese Fire Drill”, Thai style

I’m not really sure how the term “Chinese fire drill” came about, though I would guess it started as a less-than-kind phrase towards Chinese people.  At any rate, I saw an interesting combination today at a stoplight… Two motorbikes pulled up, each with a driver and passenger.  Passenger from bike #1 got off and moved to be passenger of bike #2. Not so in Thailand. My pastor, King, came into the office yesterday with a question.  The conversation went something like this: King: “Do most […]

January photos

Here are some pictures of what we did in January. A team of three wonderful ladies came from a church in Spokane, WA to help out at TLC. We had class for university students, a Quest event, plenty of fun parties, and we also taught at a village school around the mountain three mornings a week.
